Nicolai Liebach

Sales & Project Manager

Nicolai is a trained construction technologist who has specialized in climbing wall design since 2016. His passion for climbing has directed his career into this niche field of architecture. Nicolai has been an avid climber since 1996 and continues to be actively involved in the sport. Throughout the years, he has worked with, and been a part of, the Danish National Climbing Team, contributed to the development of Kjuge, and engaged in club work at the former Copenhagen Climbing Club. Nicolai has also participated in various competitions, from the World Championships to the Midnight Boulder competition, which he initiated. Currently, he serves on the board of the Danish Climbing Federation, alongside his role at Gubbies Projekt.

At Gubbies Projekt, Nicolai is responsible for leading the sales of projects from early conceptual ideas and sketches to the quality assurance of the final product. He has extensive experience in the design and implementation of approximately 200 projects over the past eight years, providing him with substantial expertise in the construction of climbing facilities. Nicolai also works as a project manager in implementation and a product manager in development.

The climbing sport is currently undergoing significant transformation—from a recreational activity to an Olympic sport. Nicolai is committed to designing facilities that accommodate and support this evolution.

Thomas Hjerrild

Climbing Wall Installer, Route Setter & Service Agent

Since 1996 Thomas has been an active climber. He lived in Göteborg when he discovered the joy of rock climbing and spend the following years, climbing all over Europe. In 2007 he started building and maintaining routes at Bjerget in Viborg and from that point on, the climbing business became his profession. Thomas is thrilled to be able to combine his passion for climbing with his profession. At Gubbies he is maintaining climbing walls, safety checking climbing walls and putting up routes.

Sille Aaes

Website & Operations Manager

Sille plays a pivotal role as both key administrative employee and website designer, responsible for crafting and maintaining a seamless digital experience for all visitors. With her strong organizational skills, she ensures the smooth operation of daily activities, leaving no detail overlooked. Sille's meticulous approach guarantees that nothing falls through the cracks, enabling the team to focus on creating extraordinary climbing facilities.

While Sille modestly describes her climbing skills as minimal, she thrives on the vibrant atmosphere that surrounds the climbing environment

Steffen Woetmann

CEO & Founder

Steffen's passion for climbing ignited while working at the Murray O'Laoire Architects Design Studio in Ireland. Upon returning to Denmark, he channeled this enthusiasm into designing and building climbing walls for clubs and institutions, leading to the inception of Gubbies.

As a specialist in climbing products and facilities, Steffen integrates his architectural expertise into every project. His background in design and aesthetics, combined with his skills in site analysis, conceptualization, construction, and project management, allows him to craft climbing environments that are both functional and visually striking. Steffen's unique approach ensures that Gubbies' climbing facilities stand out, embodying innovation and excellence in every detail.
