An active urban space in Aarhus

ÅRHUS MIDTBY BOULDER

URBAN SPACE BOULDERS

Århus Midtby Boulder is surrounded by small hills, which together with the trees form a perfect space for movement. Slacklines can be stretched out, you can have a picnic or relax in the sun. In short, there is room for life, activity and socializing across all age groups.

The project consists of two boulder sculptures that are located in the area in front of the old city museum and the current Folkestedet on Carl Blochs Gade in Århus. As part of the project, the necessary fall base is laid in the form of fall sand. The fall base complies with the applicable DS/EN Norm for the area.

Århus Midtby Boulder is a facility that is open to everyone right in the middle of the city. The place offers bouldering (climbing on "big rocks") for all those who find it fun to move and use their strength. From the start, the idea has been to make the urban space active. An idea that has had great political support and that the Aktiv Aarhus pool has financed.

In 2020, the sculpture has been renovated. The old wooden panels have been replaced with fiberglass that can withstand wear, weather and wind for many, many years. In addition, extra sand was added to the fall base.
