FROM SQUASH COURTS TO BRAND NEW BOULDERING GYM

RETHINK SPACES

For several years, a dedicated group of enthusiasts worked hard to establish both an association and the physical framework for bouldering in Middelfart. The result is now a complete bouldering gym, built in a former squash hall in Middelfart Hallerne.

Bouldering is a climbing sport that is growing significantly in Denmark – and this type of project shows how the development of the sport often goes hand in hand with new thinking about existing buildings.

At Gubbies, we are experts in seeing the potential in the spaces that already exist. Former squash halls, old school gymnasiums or other overlooked square meters can be transformed into living climbing environments when we combine our knowledge of climbing with our architectural skills.
